View Moreyes, I fully agree having been their victim now twice, when prescribed statin durgs which I was later told I did not need, but doctor and staff got angry with me for persisting on reporting side effects. Pharmacist said he knew not about my side effects caused by statin. They never heard of it and I was wasting their time. Found one article, nine years ago, in European medical journal that said statins can cause peripheral neuropathy and described the development of rhabdomylosis, which I then started and quit taking it. Should have gone for lab test first to have proof in hand. Then prescribed neurontin for pain control, which I asked doctor and pharmacist if it would make permanent changes in my brain as was developed for seizures and given off label. They said no, not that they knew of. That was within the last year. Learned one month ago that it negatively affects the mitochondria in cells, stops the brain from forming new synapses as elderly continue to build them, and can shrink your brain, and are one of the most deadly drugs on the market, same as Lyrica drug. Can affect vision too. Well guess what, I cannot recall what I was going to say, or cannot recall a word, or when I took my last pain med. No lawyers want to take on a drug company with all their minions of lawyers unless you are part of a class action, and those two suits are filled up. So tough luck. Had to quit working affecting my fixed income and at times am sloer answering questions so treated like a mentally deficient person. Still have my cognition but feel more vulnerable, and they ruined my retirement I worked so hard to save for. And am easier target for predators which has happened too much. So glad you posted this. BTW Your brain is mostly cholesterol, your nerve fibers are covered with cholesterol. And both medications cause muscle wasting. The neuropathy is progressive oddly enough and now to my ankles. Feet feel like wooden blocks, that ache like run over by a car. Statins is a racket. No proof it prevents heart attacks. The FDA published a one page alert for my statin, Lovastatin, saying it could cause peripheral neuropathy, 7 years too late. Don't let anyone you know and love take a statin medication. The [pharmaceuticals and FDA do not care.
