I have lil green worms INSIDE the stems of my Melon vines, they are killing my plants. Anyway to get rid of them?

Diatomaceous (sp?) earth...that shit kills anything without an exoskeleton...sprinkle it on all the stems & around the plant base...I used to get it at the feed store for like 10 bucks a 50# bag

My friend in Florida has those all year he got something from the local agriculture extension office to kill them, and put covers over his pants to stop the moths from laying eggs on his pants to begin with. I'm pretty sure he called them pickle worms. Good luck.
